about
Lucy Lorenne & The Early Birds' latest single 'Tamagotchi Nights' is a vibrant and nostalgia-driven pop anthem, paying homage to childhood innocence and fantasy. With an air of melancholy for the more innocent times gone by, the song captures the essence of post-millennial nostalgia. Co-written by Lorenne, Matt Hargreaves and Flagrant Artists producer Ben Oldland, the song boasts a boppy new sound for the band, accompanied by a y2k inspired music video created in collaboration with Mediaroid.
lyrics
Tamagotchi Nights
I remember a time when we would stay up all night under the tent light
I remember a time when we were spooked by shadows, quick shoot your arrow
I will never forget when you would tuck me in, kiss my head and say it’s alright
Now I kinda regret that I would cut the story short, couldn’t tell you the last time
I remember the bunkbeds, a chatterbox, pigtails, toy-guns, pixelated talking rocks
And I remember the long drives with closed eyes, keeping them shut to be carried inside
But I wanna forget the first school day when Barbies weren’t cool and I felt like prey
And I would come to regret having ever dare said "grow up" to someone younger than me
Tamagotchi nights
They are never coming back
Damn, it was nice to know ya
The days of make-believe
That are never coming back
God, I hope I don’t forget ya
God, I hope I don’t forget ya
I remember my first kiss, it wasn’t quite what it was cracked up to be
And I remember feeling like I knew what heartbreak was, jokes on me
But I'll never forget the comfort in a cuppa with Grandma, sipping French Rose
Yet another regret that I gotta accept, wish I'd made time for more of those
Do you remember itching to grow? New faces, places come and go
Do you remember why you and I drifted, faded? There was no goodbye
Don’t ever regret leaving home, they know, you know, everybody grows
But we never forget the first steps and don’t you forget, you know you like nobody knows
So long to the
Tamagotchi nights
They are never coming back
Damn, it was nice to know ya
To the days of make-believe
That are never coming back
God, I hope I don’t forget ya
Tamagotchi nights
They are never coming back
Nothing lasts forever
The days of make-believe
Are never coming back
So be here and now, remember
Nothing’s meant to last forever
Promise that I won’t ever forget ya
